Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Past Perfect Continuous Tense merupakan kalimat untuk menunjukkan suatu peristiwa yang telah terjadi di masa lampau dan masih berlangsung sampai waktu tertentu di masa lampau.

(+)  S + had + been + V1-ing
(-)   S + had not + been + V1-ing
(?)   Had + S + been + V1-ing

CONTOH:

(+)  He had been living in Jakarta for eight years
(-)   He had not been living in Jakarta for eight years
(?)   Had he been living in Jakarta for eight years?

Past Perfect Tense

Past Perfect Tense merupakan kalimat untuk menyatakan peristiwa yang telah selesai pada suatu waktu  di masa lalu sebelum peristiwa lainnya terjadi.

(+)  S + had + V-3
(-)   S + had not + V-3
(?)   Had + S + V-3

CONTOH:

(+)  The train had gone 5 minutes ago
(-)   The train had not gone 5 minutes ago
(?)   Had the train gone 5 minutes ago?

Past Continuous Tense

Past Continuous Tense merupakan kalimat yang menunjukkan peristiwa yang sedang terjadi pada waktu tertentu di masa lalu.

(+)  S + was/were + V-ing
(-)   S + was/were not + V-ing
(?)  Was/were + S + V-ing

CONTOH:

(+)  She was working at the hospital last night
(-)   She was not working at the hospital last night
(?)  Was She working at the hospital last night?

Simple Past Tense

Simple Past Tense merupakan kalimat untuk menyatakan peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lampau.

(+)  S + V-2
(-)   S + did not + V-1
(?)   Did + S + V-1

CONTOH:

(+)  He bought a book yesterday
(-)   He did not buy a book yesterday
(?)   Did he buy a book yesterday?
